Supergirl and the Legion of Super-Heroes #28

Face to face with something deeply unsettling, Supergirl — rendered with striking vulnerability as she gazes upward, wide-eyed — confronts a massive, textured alien creature whose grotesque visage dominates the left half of Barry Kitson's cover for this May 2007 issue. The contrast between the girl's delicate features and the creature's looming, almost geological face makes for a genuinely arresting composition. Mark Waid's run on Supergirl and the Legion of Super-Heroes continues here with all the tension and wonder that made this series a highlight of DC's mid-2000s output.
