Supergirl #60

Part of DC's 2001 "Our Worlds at War" crossover event, this issue drops Supergirl fist-first into the thick of it — the cover by Kirk and Riggs shows her diving toward a massive, armored alien vessel against a blazing orange backdrop, screaming "Banzai!" with total conviction. It's a wonderfully kinetic image that captures the reckless courage at the heart of Peter David's take on the character. If you've been following the series, issue #60 looks like exactly the kind of all-out confrontation the series has been building toward.
