Supergirl #15

Supergirl #15 (January 1984) delivers a charged, kinetic cover by Carmine Infantino and Bob Oksner that puts the Maid of Might front and center in a fierce mid-air struggle — she's locked in combat with a dark-caped, red-haired woman while an older bystander in the background cries out, "Put her down, Supergirl! That's my baby!!" The burst of colorful energy surrounding the two combatants gives the whole image a wonderfully dramatic urgency. With Paul Kupperberg scripting and the story titled "Starrfall," this 1984 installment looks to be one of the series' more emotionally layered confrontations.
