The cover says it all — "The Story You Thought You'd NEVER See!" — as Superboy, bathed in an eerie green glow, looms large against a deep-space backdrop while a rocket blazes toward what appears to be an explosive, Kryptonite-tinged detonation below him. Tom Grummett's pencils and Karl Kesel's inks give the whole scene a tense, otherworldly charge that perfectly suits the "Mission to Krypton" premise. With Kesel writing and Dusty Abell on interior art, this February 1999 issue promises a genuinely unexpected corner of Superboy's world.
