“Superboy the Animated Series”

Two versions of Superboy share the cover in a clever visual joke: one in the classic red-and-blue costume is sprawled flat on the ground amid scattered popcorn, while a cooler, leather-jacketed Superboy kicks back on top of a television set (draped with an American flag), grinning behind his shades as he watches his counterpart eat the floor. The playful "…We Now Return to Superboy: The Animated Series!" banner sets the tongue-in-cheek tone perfectly, and the cover pencils by Tom Grummett and Mike Parobeck — inked by writer Karl Kesel himself — give the whole thing a crisp, energetic feel that suits 1994's pop-culture-savvy take on the Boy of Steel.
