Superboy #16

The cover says it all — Superboy and the massive blue-skinned brawler Loose Cannon are locked in a mid-air grapple, tumbling headlong toward the city below under a moonlit night sky, with neither looking willing to let go. Tom Grummett's pencils and Karl Kesel's inks give the collision a real sense of weight and momentum, making this June 1995 clash feel genuinely consequential. With Kesel writing and Grummett on interior art as well, "School and Hard Knocks" looks like a satisfying superhero slugfest from a creative team clearly comfortable swinging for the fences.
