“Revenge of the Leafy Monsters!”

Gotham City is under siege by an army of monster trees, and this May 1979 issue of Super Friends throws Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman right into the thick of it. Kurt Schaffenberger's cover captures the chaos perfectly — Superman and Batman are snared and battered by enormous grasping branches, while Wonder Woman wields her golden lasso nearby and a mysterious caped figure watches from the background, with cover dialogue warning that the Amazon may be humanity's last hope. With a story titled "Revenge of the Leafy Monsters!" and a full creative team including writer Sergius O'Shaughnessy and interior art by Schaffenberger and inker Bob Smith, this is a wonderfully imaginative slice of DC's beloved TV tie-in series.
