In "El ojo de Elrik," Conan journeys to Zamboula with Isparana to deliver the mystical Eye of Erlik, only to face deadly ambushes by the Yogites and unexpected aid from the enigmatic Shanki. When the talisman is handed to Akter Khan, the khan’s betrayal plunges Conan into a web of intrigue, forcing him to ally with the exiled nobleman Balad as the desert city teems with hidden threats and ancient secrets.

In "Por el trono de Zamboula," Conan endures torture at the hands of the sorcerer Zafra, only to see the wizard fall by his own cursed blade. Freed and thrust into the chaos of a brewing revolt, Conan witnesses Balad’s ruthless rise and fall, then guides the rebels toward naming Akter Khan’s son, Jungir, as the new ruler.

In "Halcones sobre Shem," Conan stalks the treacherous courts of Asgalun, where the mad king Akhirom rules through three ruthless mercenary armies led by Othbaal, Imbalayo, and Mazdak. With the help of Farouz—whose true identity hides a deadly agenda—Conan plots revenge, while Othbaal’s slave girl Rufia flees, weaving a dangerous deception that brands Akhirom a god. As the city teeters on chaos, Conan rescues Rufia from the king’s jealous mistress Zeriti and vanishes into the shadows as the factions tear each other apart.
