Sheldon Mayer's Sugar and Spike always had a gift for capturing childhood mischief at its most endearing, and this November 1960 issue wraps that charm in a Halloween package. The cover shows the two toddlers on a doorstep mid-trick-or-treat, with Spike sporting a pilgrim hat and holding a "Trick or" sign while Sugar clutches the "Treat" half and a bulging candy sack — a jack-o'-lantern glowing nearby under an orange moon — as Sugar cheerfully declares they should get up early and do it all again tomorrow. It's a perfectly funny, warm slice of 1960 DC fun from Mayer, whose deceptively simple linework makes every giggle feel completely genuine.
