A dissident in a communist country escapes to Mars, but barely escapes from the hostile Martians. When he returns home he is a hero for his journey, and is able to escape to the West, where he warns them of the aliens, and explains that he convinced the communist leadership to go to Mars unarmed, hoping they will be killed.
