When Mexican bandits raid the Comanche hunters and steal their winter furs, the tribal council calls upon Straight Arrow to pursue Don Carlos—a ruthless outlaw who rules like a feudal lord south of the border, imprisoning those who won't pay him tribute. Infiltrating the bandit's stone castle, Straight Arrow must free the captives and recover the stolen goods while facing Don Carlos's deadly traps and fighting men. A strange legend about a thin stick toppling the castle's fortune may hold the key to stopping the tyrant once and for all.
Straight Arrow journeys far into the frozen north to face Walrus Tusk, a renegade Eskimo giant who terrorizes the local people with his trained wolves and polar bear. After an old Eskimo elder proves the Comanche war chief's strength by having him bend an ancient horn bow, Straight Arrow accepts the mission to stop the tyrant of the snows—leading to a brutal confrontation across ice floes and frozen wastelands where cunning and raw power must decide the day.
When Territorial Governor Wallace challenges outlaw king Black Bart Heron to a contest of wit and skill, Straight Arrow joins fellow lawmen Wild Bill Hickok and Bat Masterson in Hangknot to face a series of grueling tests—riding, shooting, wrestling, and running—followed by two seemingly impossible riddles. If all three can pass every trial, Black Bart surrenders peacefully; if any fail, the outlaw wins a full pardon for his crimes. As the final challenger, Straight Arrow must not only outmatch the town's toughest fighters, but unlock the secrets Black Bart has devised to stump two of the Old West's most famous men.
