About this Collection

This collection brings together issues from the 2002 Starman series, focusing on the legacy of the Starman mantle. The story follows a new character taking up the cosmic staff and the challenges that come with it, set against the backdrop of DC's superhero universe. It's a standalone arc that explores themes of heroism and inheritance within the Starman mythos.

In "City Without Light (A Prelude to Bad Times)," James Robinson and Steve Yeowell craft a moody, character-driven chapter as Ted and the Shade reflect on the shifting power dynamics in Opal following Jack's departure. The arrival of the Black Pirate’s ghost adds a haunting layer to Sadie’s growing unease, while the sudden death of a key underworld contact and Commissioner Woo sets a grim tone for the city’s unraveling. Tony Harris’s evocative cover captures the weight of impending darkness.
