Starfire #6
DC's sword-and-science heroine gets a bold new look in Starfire #6 (July 1977), and the cover by Mike Vosburg and Vince Colletta wastes no time showing her in action — clad in a striking green costume, she holds her blade at the ready while surrounded on all sides by looming purple shadow-demons against a futuristic backdrop. The cover promises "new costume, new dangers, new thrills" as this wondrous warrior faces "the Sinister Demons from the Shadows," and the composition delivers on that tension beautifully, with Starfire defiant and fierce at the center of the chaos. Steve Englehart and Vosburg are clearly having a great time with this blend of fantasy and sci-fi, making this an appealing chapter in one of DC's more adventurous series of the era.
