The creature reappears and kills Lopaki. Leia realizes the creature is artificial and controlled by the consoles in the control centre so begins destroying them while Luke finds the creature is made of energy and very susceptible to his lightsaber. The creature is destroyed and they leave Alashan on the Staraker with Grau and his surviving lieutenant Anarine. They ask Grau to join the Rebellion but Grau and Anarine leave the Staraker in an escape pod out of loyalty to the Empire.
