The Star Wars (2025) series launched in May 2025 as a third-volume relaunch of Marvel's flagship Star Wars ongoing, with writer Alex Segura — who had already established the post-Return of the Jedi canon timeline through his Star Wars: Battle of Jakku limited series — ascending to the main title. Segura has described the post-Jakku era as 'almost wide open' compared to the tightly canonically constrained Battle of Jakku, giving him and artist Phil Noto unusually broad creative latitude for a canon Star Wars comic. Noto, who previously drew the Poe Dameron series for Marvel, noted the particular excitement of redesigning the classic original trilogy characters for a period with no film or television visual reference, working from 1980s actor likenesses to craft the New Republic-era looks. Issue #6 was published on October 1, 2025, and represents Noto's final issue as interior artist on the run, with rotating artists handling the back half of the ten-issue arc.
