Picard's senior officers grow concerned over Picard's over-the-top behavior, and worry that he could turn on them at any time. Leah Brahms stages a coup to take control of the Enterprise, but she is stopped by Picard. Picard sends Data in the ISS Cronus to lead a fleet of ships to attack Regent Worf and the Klingons, while Picard leads the Enterprise and the rest of the Terran fleet in an attack against the Cardassians, who are prepared to meet Picard's forces with their own fleet.
