Star Trek #40
Harry Mudd is back, and this July 1987 issue of DC's Star Trek makes his return impossible to ignore — the cover by Joe Brozowski and Bob Lewis depicts a horde of identical toy-soldier androids, green-uniformed and marching in eerie lockstep, bearing down on a struggling Captain Kirk and a very recognizable flamboyantly dressed Mudd himself, with the Enterprise visible in the background above the chaos. The image captures that perfect blend of absurdity and genuine peril that makes Mudd such an irresistible antagonist. Written by Len Wein with interior art by Tom Sutton and Ricardo Villagrán, this one promises a lively adventure worthy of the con man who always has one more trick up his sleeve.
