From DC's "The Line of Super-Stars," this March 1974 issue of Star Spangled War Stories features the Unknown Soldier front and center — his face wrapped in trademark bandages, pistol in hand — surrounded on all sides by rifle-bearing soldiers whose weapons are trained on him from every direction. The cover speech balloons crackle with tension: "Stay out of this, mister!" and "This war is between us!" hint at a conflict that's deeply personal, setting the stage for the story inside titled "A Town Called Hate!"
