John Bivens and Felipe Sobreiro deliver a cover that immediately communicates the terrifying scale of Spread's world — a massive, grotesquely detailed crimson hand rises out of darkness, its fleshy, writhing surface dwarfing the lone human figure standing atop it. That tiny person perched on the knuckles makes the threat feel almost incomprehensibly vast, which is exactly the kind of unsettling tension this series thrives on. Justin Jordan's post-apocalyptic horror saga is in full swing by issue #20, and this 2017 entry makes a compelling visual case for why Spread remains one of Image's more viscerally striking ongoing series.
