Spooky #80

Harvey Comics' "tuff little ghost" is in fine form in this June 1964 issue, where the cover finds a wide-eyed Spooky nose-to-nose with a startled, hollow tree stump that's erupting with clouds of pink smoke and a flurry of little blue bats. The chaotic, cartoon energy leaping off the page is pure Harvey charm, with Spooky's signature bowler hat logo presiding over the mayhem up top. With Howie Post handling writing, art, and inking, and "The Golf Game" waiting inside, issue #80 is a delightful snapshot of early-'60s all-ages fun.
