Spooky #62

Harvey Comics' "tuff little ghost" is in fine form on this cheerful December 1961 cover, perched on a little cloud with his signature bowler hat while concentrating hard on a bamboo fishing rod dangling a worm above a trio of very interested fish. It's a perfectly sunny, good-natured scene that captures exactly why Spooky earned his own long-running series — all mischief, no malice. At just 10 cents, issue #62 is a delightful snapshot of Harvey's warm, kid-friendly charm at its early-'60s best.
