History

The issue was written by Steve Foxe and drawn by penciller-inker Ig Guara, with colors by Arif Prianto, letters by VC's Joe Sabino, and editing by Ellie Pyle under editor-in-chief C. B. Cebulski. It was released on June 19, 2024, with a cover date of August 2024, carrying a legacy numbering of #124. Foxe has described the New Champions characters as having been reverse-engineered from variant cover designs — an unusual creative process in which the story followed the art rather than the reverse. The series itself was announced in August 2023 as an ongoing launched by Foxe and artist Carola Borelli; Guara took over pencilling duties beginning with issue #6 for the San Francisco arc.
