Spider-Woman #7

History

This issue is part of the second story arc of Spider-Woman vol. 8, written by Eisner- and Ringo Award-nominated writer Steve Foxe and drawn by Ig Guara, with colors by Arif Prianto, letters by VC's Joe Sabino, and editing by Ellie Pyle. The series launched in late 2023 as a tie-in to the Gang War event before pivoting with issue #6 to an independent San Francisco-set storyline; issue #7 is the first chapter fully embedded in that new direction. Foxe has noted publicly that the Assembly characters were reverse-engineered from a pre-existing set of 'New Champions' variant cover designs — an unusual creative pipeline in which the writer built original characters, backstories, and powerset rationales to match cover art that preceded the story itself. The series was collected in the trade Spider-Woman by Steve Foxe Vol. 2: The Assembly, which gathers issues #6–10.
