Spider-Men II #3

This third chapter of the Spider-Men II miniseries delivers one of 2017's most unsettling cover images: a scarred, smirking man in a red shirt crushes Miles Morales's Spider-Man mask in his bare hands, the broken lenses staring wide-eyed as Miles himself looks up in visible distress. Sara Pichelli's artwork gives the scene an almost suffocating intensity, with the spider-web backdrop and crimson palette amplifying the sense of danger closing in. Brian Michael Bendis and Pichelli are clearly in fine form here, and "Part Three" promises the kind of sharp, character-driven tension that makes this series hard to put down.
