Spider-Man / Human Torch #3

Issue three of this five-part 2005 Marvel limited series brings Spider-Man and the Human Torch together in a scene brimming with urban chaos — a massive, spider-themed vehicle crashes through a city alley while Spidey clings to it and the flame-on Human Torch blazes in from the upper left. Bystanders scramble in every direction as the destruction unfolds, and the cover by Paul Smith captures the sheer kinetic energy of two of Marvel's most entertaining personalities caught up in something much bigger than a typical team-up. With Dan Slott writing and Ty Templeton on interior art, "Auto Motives" looks to be a sharp, fun installment in one of 2005's most enjoyable team-up series.
