Spider-Man / Human Torch #4

Issue four of five in this charming 2005 limited series finds Spider-Man and the Human Torch in an unexpectedly awkward spot — both smitten, both holding bouquets of roses, and both completely upstaged by the Black Cat, who stands center stage looking thoroughly amused by her two flustered admirers. Paul Smith's cover perfectly captures the comedic tension, framing the trio against a rosy backdrop of floating hearts that sets the tone for "Cat's Paws" beautifully. Dan Slott and Ty Templeton's celebration of Marvel friendship gets a wonderfully playful romantic twist here.
