The story balances classic Spider-Man humor and heart with a thoughtful look at what it truly means to be a hero.
In "… To Become an Avenger!", Spider-Man teams up with the Avengers as they unravel a mystery tied to Nebula’s strange experiments—each one causing the universe to briefly blink out of existence. When Sersi resists the latest test, she manages to shield those in the room, but the world beyond remains trapped in a terrifying void. Written by John Byrne and illustrated by Paul Ryan, with inks by Tom Palmer and colors by Christie Scheele, this 2011 issue features a striking cover by Stuart Immonen and Wade von Grawbadger.
