Spider-Man #2
Miles Morales stands triumphant atop a heap of fallen heroes — including the crumpled armor of Iron Man and the battered forms of what appear to be Thor and other Avengers — holding Captain America's shield aloft against a smoldering golden sky, his black-and-red suit torn from battle. It's a striking, almost mythic image from Sara Pichelli, whose detailed linework and Justin Ponsor's warm, dramatic coloring make this cover feel genuinely earned rather than merely provocative. Brian Michael Bendis's run on this series was already turning heads in 2016, and this second issue promises the kind of high-stakes, emotionally resonant storytelling that made Miles one of Marvel's most compelling wall-crawlers.
