Spider-Gwen #9

The looming, skull-like visage dominating this cover sets an ominous tone as Spider-Gwen stands tall atop what appears to be a band amp labeled "The Mary Janes," her bandmates clustered around her — a striking image of camaraderie shadowed by something much bigger and more dangerous. Rodriguez's fluid, painterly linework and Renzi's bold crimson palette give the whole composition a moody, almost dreamlike tension that feels fresh for 2016 Marvel. "Weapon of Choice" kicks off right here, and this is a great jumping-on point for anyone drawn to Gwen's dual life as hero and musician.
