“Full Circle, Chapter 3: With a Little Help from My Friends”
About this Issue

Spider-Boy #20 is the finale of Dan Slott's complete 20-issue run with Bailey Briggs, the character he co-created, bringing the 'Full Circle' arc to a close by reuniting Bailey with virtually every ally and antagonist he encountered across the series. As the last chapter Slott would write before departing Marvel for DC, the issue doubles as an authorial farewell — acknowledged explicitly by a dedicated Humberto Ramos 'Farewell Variant' cover from the character's co-creator. The issue crystallizes the central thesis of the entire run: that Spider-Man's youngest sidekick had earned genuine standing in the Spider-family, demonstrated through Toy Soldier's in-story declaration that Peter Parker, though he'll never say it aloud, is proud of Bailey Briggs.

History

Spider-Boy (2023) was conceived by Dan Slott during his Spider-Man vol. 4 run with Mark Bagley, with Slott describing the character's genesis as a half-joking editorial-room question about what would happen if there were 'one more guy' that no one in the Marvel Universe remembered. The solo series launched in November 2023 with artist Paco Medina taking over interior duties from co-creator Humberto Ramos, under editor Nick Lowe — the same editor who had overseen much of Slott's prior Spider-Man work. Slott's announced move to DC Comics in 2025 set a hard endpoint for the series, making issue #20 a planned rather than abrupt conclusion.

Trivia · 8 facts

  • Issue #20 is the series finale of Spider-Boy (2023), the final chapter of the three-part 'Full Circle' arc (subtitled 'With a Little Help From My Friends'), released June 25, 2025, with an August 2025 cover date.
  • Written by Dan Slott; interior art by Paco Medina (pencils/inks) and Erick Arciniega (colors); lettered by VC's Joe Caramagna; edited by Nick Lowe.
  • The issue brings together an ensemble of characters built across the entire run, including Spider-Man, Daredevil, Spider-Girl (Makawalu Akana), Hulkette, Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan), Boy-Spider, Toy Soldier, Mr. Negative (Martin Li), and the Gaping Maw ninja clan, among others.
  • A 'Humberto Ramos Farewell Variant' cover — illustrated by the character's original co-creator — was published alongside the standard Paco Medina cover, a Todd Nauck 'Foreshadow Variant,' and a Jason Loo 'Puzzle Variant.'
  • Dan Slott ended the series at issue #20 upon departing Marvel for DC Comics, making this his final scripted chapter of Spider-Boy.
  • Spider-Boy (Bailey Briggs) was created by Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos, first appearing in Spider-Man vol. 4 #7 (April 2023); the character's premise — that everyone in the Marvel Universe forgot he ever existed — drove the entire solo series.
  • The issue and the preceding three chapters were collected in Spider-Boy Vol. 4: Full Circle (ISBN 9781302963163), which also includes the Kidpool/Spider-Boy (2024) #1 crossover one-shot.
  • The story resolves the Mister Negative threat that escalated across the 'Full Circle' arc, with Peter Parker incapacitated and Bailey forced to rally his own assembled team of allies for a last stand at the F.E.A.S.T. Center.
