Spawn #94

This 2000 Image Comics installment carries a story title — "The Children's Hour" — that feels entirely apt given its gripping cover: a desperate man clutches a wide-eyed infant and sprints headlong through a swirling storm of bats and rats, his expression all grim determination. The cover pencils by Greg Capullo and inks by Todd McFarlane give the scene a raw, kinetic urgency, with the enclosing darkness pressing in from every side. With writing from McFarlane and Brian Holguin and interior art by Capullo and Danny Miki, Spawn #94 delivers the kind of tense, atmospheric storytelling that kept this series one of Image's most compelling reads of its era.
