Spawn #89

Spawn #89 delivers one of the more unsettling cover images of 1999 — an extreme close-up of Spawn's decayed, monstrous face filling the entire frame, his glowing green eyes burning with malevolence as writhing worms spill from his grotesque, gaping mouth. The hellspawn's signature red-lined cape fans out at the edges like dark wings, completing a portrait that feels genuinely threatening rather than merely theatrical. Interior art by Greg Capullo pairs with a cover by Capullo and inker Todd McFarlane himself, making this a nicely collaborative entry in the long-running Image series.
