Spawn #80

Spawn #80 brings together a striking assemblage of menace on Greg Capullo and Danny Miki's cover: in the foreground, two grizzled gunmen level their weapons directly at the viewer, while Spawn himself looms behind them, cape spread wide, and an armored, spike-shouldered figure radiates an eerie green energy above it all. "The Cleansing" promises a tense collision of worlds, with Todd McFarlane and Brian Holguin at the helm of the story and Capullo's dynamic linework making every layer of this composition crackle with urgency. A compelling chapter in one of Image's most enduring series, and a fine example of what made 1999 such a rich period for the title.
