The cover by Greg Capullo and Todd McFarlane says it all: a massive, grotesque creature with glowing eyes and a gaping, dripping maw looms over a comparatively small but defiant Spawn, who levels a weapon crackling with fiery golden energy rings. The sheer scale contrast between the hulking monster and our red-caped hellspawn makes for a genuinely arresting image, all rendered with Capullo's muscular linework and McFarlane's sharp inks against a sickly green backdrop. "Twisted" — the 1996 story from the full creative team of McFarlane, Capullo, and colorists Brian Haberlin and Dan Kemp — looks like it lives up to its name.
