Spawn looms front and center on this 2018 Image release, his signature horned mask and billowing red-lined cape framed by an eerie surge of green hellfire and heavy chains that crackle with necrotic energy. Jason Shawn Alexander's cover art renders the character with brooding, painterly intensity — all deep shadow and phosphorescent flame that gives the Hell-Spawn an almost elemental presence. Issue #284 is a striking addition to one of Image Comics' longest-running series, and this cover alone makes a compelling case for picking it up.
