The Monster in the Bubble: Part 1" announces itself with one of the more unsettling covers in Spawn's long run — a grotesque, diseased-looking mass of bubbling flesh and tumorous growths fills nearly the entire frame, with a tiny armored figure clinging precariously to its surface, dwarfed by the horror beneath. Greg Capullo's cover art makes the scale of this threat viscerally clear, rendering every pustule and gnarled texture with nauseating detail against a pitch-black void. David Hine, Brian Haberlin, and Geirrod Van Dyke bring this 2008 Image series into genuinely strange territory with this opener.
