The first, "Jinx of Black Ridge Ranch," involves Hank Roper discovering a vicious scheme at the Black Ridge Sheep Ranch when "Hard Luck" Cady wins enough money gambling to buy out the outfit, prompting Roper to investigate the easy money behind the acquisition. The second story, "Deal with Danger Below," depicts Spurs Jackson and his Space Vigilantes receiving an official welcome in Manhattan for saving the world from two attacks from outer space, after which they battle between two super space fleets midway between Mars and Venus, with the crippled flagships of both demolition fleets drifting together and their commanders expressing mutual recognition. The issue also includes a subplot involving truck hijacking and smuggling across the Mexican border orchestrated by Miles Ralston.
When Spurs Jackson's space vigilantes detect atomic explosions originating from Earth, they discover the culprits aren't earthbound—they're the Green Men of Venus, led by Vodor, who've stolen atomic bomb equipment and established a desert stronghold. Spurs pursues Vodor back to Venus in his spacechaser, but the confrontation takes an unexpected turn when he activates the very weapon the aliens sought to harness. It's a wild interplanetary showdown that proves the frontier spirit knows no planetary boundaries.
When a foreman at Black Ridge Ranch wins a gambling stake and leaves town, he sets off a chain of schemes designed to ruin the ranch and force its owner to sell—but Hank Roper uncovers the sinister plot behind the "jinx" and works to expose the real culprits. With help from an unlikely crew, Roper races to save Nancy Winstead's sheep herd from sabotage and stop a ruthless land grab before it's too late.
While Spurs Jackson celebrates his past victories in Manhattan, two defeated space commanders—Korok of Mars and Vodor of Venus—secretly establish a hidden base on the dark side of the moon, plotting an invasion of Earth using strange burrowing creatures. When Spurs and his vigilantes learn of mysterious missiles headed for Gold Canyon, they race to intercept an army of moon-borers emerging from the old mine shafts, forced to think fast as the creatures tunnel deeper into the ground and threaten everything in their path.
When truckers start vanishing along a desert highway, Strong Bow investigates a string of hijackings that seem impossible—modern cargo rigs attacked by soldiers in Civil War uniforms, their cargo shipped across the Mexican border. The trail leads to a hidden cave hideaway and an unexpected culprit: a disgruntled movie actor using his film crew's costumes and extras as cover for the perfect heist.
