“The Antimatter Man! Part One”
About this Issue

Space Ghost Vol. 2 #7 marks the debut of the Antimatter Man within the Dynamite Entertainment continuity — a villain drawn from the original Hanna-Barbera animated series now recontextualized with a tragic, character-driven origin tied directly to Jan and Jace's family. It is also one of the rare multi-part stories in a run that had built its reputation on satisfying standalone issues, making this issue a structural turning point for the second volume. The issue deepens the Pepose run's ongoing project of honoring classic Space Ghost characters — including Dr. Cyclo and the obscure Dr. Soonev — while giving them genuine dramatic weight absent from the source cartoon.

In "The Antimatter Man! Part One," science takes a terrifying turn when rival physicist Doctor Cyclo sabotages Doctor Henry Contra’s groundbreaking press conference, triggering a catastrophic transformation that turns Contra into the volatile Antimatter Man. Written by David Pepose and illustrated by Jonathan Lau, with colors by Andrew Dalhouse and letters by Taylor Esposito, this issue sets a pulse-pounding tone for a story where ambition meets chaos. The cover by Francesco Mattina captures the moment of rupture with striking intensity.

History

Space Ghost Vol. 2 launched in August 2025 after Dynamite CEO Nick Barrucci announced a deliberate relaunch as a new jumping-on point for readers, following the conclusion of the twelve-issue first volume and a 2025 annual. Writer David Pepose and artist Jonathan Lau, the same creative team from Vol. 1, continued into this second volume alongside colorist Andrew Dalhouse, letterer Taylor Esposito, and editor Joseph Rybandt — a stable unit that had established consistent monthly output across both runs. Pepose, a Ringo Award winner for his Space Ghost work, announced the Antimatter Man's appearance publicly in a post ahead of the issue's release.

  • Written by David Pepose (Ringo Award winner for Space Ghost), with interior art by Jonathan Lau, colors by Andrew Dalhouse, and letters by Taylor Esposito.
