Space Ghost #3
Space Ghost Vol. 2 #3 arrives at a moment when Dynamite Entertainment was deliberately expanding its Hanna-Barbera superhero universe across multiple simultaneous titles. Its September 10, 2025 on-sale date was shared with The Blue Falcon & Dynomutt #1, the comic-book debut of Radley Crown as Blue Falcon under Dynamite's imprint, signaling the publisher's intent to build a coherent interconnected line of classic animated-hero revivals. The issue continues the Pepose-Lau creative partnership that had already proven durable enough to earn a full relaunch after their first thirteen-issue volume, placing this run among the most sustained modern treatments Space Ghost has received in comics. Thematically, the 'Tarko the Terrible' arc deepens the series' pulp-science-fantasy register, drawing on the kind of sword-and-space-opera blending that defined Hanna-Barbera's original action cartoon block.
In "Tarko the Terrible - Unfrozen and Unleashed!", Space Ghost and the Ghost Team face a chilling new threat when they uncover the frozen remains of an ancient Viking warrior during a battle with the ice-powered villain Feron. Reluctantly bringing the thawing Tarko to Doctor Henry Contra—the self-proclaimed grandfather of Jan and Jace—they soon realize the warrior’s awakening is far from a simple rescue. Written by David Pepose and brought to life by Jonathan Lau’s dynamic art and Andrew Dalhouse’s vivid colors, this 2025 issue delivers a pulse-pounding clash of past and future, with Francesco Mattina’s cover capturing the primal fury of the unchained Tarko.

The 2025 volume of Space Ghost is a direct continuation of the 2024 Dynamite series — also written by David Pepose with art by Jonathan Lau and colors by Andrew Dalhouse — which launched in May 2024 following an October 2023 announcement. After thirteen issues and an annual, Dynamite CEO Nick Barrucci opted to relaunch with a new Vol. 2 #1 in July 2025, citing the proven value of a fresh number-one issue for growing readership; issue #3 of that second volume followed in September 2025. The series is licensed from Warner Bros. Discovery, which holds the rights to the Hanna-Barbera catalog, and is accompanied by a companion podcast, Ghost Stories with David Pepose, documenting the creative process.
