This August 1949 issue of Quality Comics' long-running Smash Comics features a wonderfully chaotic Jack Cole cover that practically spills off the page. A masked, blue-suited Midnight leaps acrobatically across a giant August calendar, scythe in hand, while a wild-bearded Father Time — seated on a giant clock face alongside a towering hourglass — gets the worst of the encounter, with henchmen and a little monkey tumbling in every direction. Cole's energetic linework and comedic timing make this one of the more purely fun covers in the series, perfectly teasing the "Midnight has a date with Father Time!" adventure inside.
