Against a moody cityscape of darkened buildings and glowing windows, Sleepwalker lunges forward in his blue costume, his tattered cloak trailing behind him and his red eyes burning with intensity — while a ghostly inset portrait of that same unsettling face looms in the upper corner. The cover tagline "In the Dead of Night… There Stalks a Killer!" sets a genuinely ominous tone for this 1993 Marvel issue, with pencils by Kelly Krantz and inks by Denis Rodier giving the whole scene a sharp, dynamic energy. "Shadow of the Past" promises a night-drenched thriller starring one of Marvel's more wonderfully strange heroes.
