When the package recipient demands compensation of five hundred dollars, Seedy agrees to pay, and the matter escalates into violence at a social club with gunfire and confrontation. Rocky Lane, working as secret marshal, becomes involved in investigating the situation while the sheriff is on vacation, ultimately pursuing the culprits to a red house to confront and capture those responsible for the crime.
When secret marshal Rocky Lane fills in for the absent Pulver City sheriff, he uncovers a slick confidence scheme targeting innocent deliverymen—and realizes the con artists are likely to strike again in neighboring towns. Following the trail to Prairie Gulch, Rocky sets a trap to catch the swindlers before they can fleece another victim. It's a clever game of wits between a lawman and a pair of crooks banking on their practiced deception.
A roving marshal named Lash Larue arrives in Farnum Hills to investigate the murder of a just-released prisoner, only to discover the killing was no random act—his quarry, the outlaw Bowlegs Larson and his confederates, mistakenly gunned down the wrong man while trying to eliminate an old partner. With the real target, Clem Kane, now walking free and very much alive, Lash must move fast to catch the killers before they finish what they started.
