The Fantastic Four help the Silver Surfer break Galactus' barrier, granting him the freedom to roam the spaceways once again. The Silver Surfer returns to Zenn-La to reunite with Shalla-Bal but finds that Galactus devastated his home world. Informed by the survivors that Shalla-Bal was captured by Mephisto, the Silver Surfer flies back to Earth and battles Mephisto in his own realm for her freedom. Beaten but still victorious, Mephisto returns Shalla-Bal to her home world while the Silver Surfer is again trapped on Earth.
