Sideways Annual #1

Part of DC's "New Age of Heroes" initiative, this 2019 annual delivers the crossover the cover promises: Sideways and Superman fighting back-to-back against a horde of monstrous creatures amid a fiery, smoke-choked backdrop. Andy Kubert's pencils and Sandra Hope's inks give the two heroes tremendous kinetic energy — Sideways crackling with rift energy while Superman winds up a massive punch — and the sheer number of snarling enemies swarming around them makes the stakes feel genuinely weighty. With DiDio and Morrison sharing writing duties and Conrad on interior art, "Just Rifting Here" looks like an oversized treat for fans of both characters.
