Shutter #22

Three figures share what looks like a well-stocked wine cellar on Leila del Duca's cover for Shutter #22: a self-possessed woman with headphones around her neck holds a glass of wine in the foreground, a young man clutches a bottle behind her, and a wide-eyed green creature with a bow tie and a clock on its chest peers up between them. The scene has an oddly domestic warmth that feels slightly off — exactly the kind of quiet tension Joe Keatinge's series does so well. With colorist Owen Gieni wrapping everything in muted, dusty tones, "5. Terminus" promises to be a compelling chapter in one of Image's most visually inventive ongoing series.
