Shaun of the Dead #3
IDW's 2005 comic adaptation of the beloved horror-comedy rolls on with issue three, and Jason Brashill's painted-style cover sets a wonderfully tense mood — a blood-splattered Shaun, red tie askew and shirt soaked crimson, stands wide-eyed and pointing as a massive horde of blank-faced zombies presses in from every direction against an ominous orange sky. A frightened young blonde woman clutches his side while the undead crowd behind them grows thick and relentless, with one particularly grim zombie face looming close in the foreground. With Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright among the writers and Zach Howard on interior art, this series does right by the film's sharp mix of dread and dark comedy.
