Sergio Aragonés Groo the Wanderer #80

Sergio Aragonés kicks off a four-part story arc, "The Legend of Thaais," with this thoroughly charming 1991 Epic Comics entry — and the cover sets the tone perfectly. Groo himself is airborne and dazed, stars spinning around his head, while a determined young blonde girl in a red dress plants her staff firmly on the ground, apparently the one responsible for sending him flying. It's a wonderfully funny image, rendered with Aragonés's signature loose energy, and it promises that this new character is more than capable of holding her own against comics' most gloriously hapless wanderer.
