Sergio Aragonés Groo the Wanderer #73

Groo the Wanderer lumbers into a three-part saga with issue #73, cover-dated January 1991 from Marvel's Epic Comics imprint. Sergio Aragonés's cover perfectly captures the series' signature humor: an oblivious, droopy-eyed Groo dominates the foreground while a massive, chaotic mob of warriors crashes and tumbles in the background behind him — blissfully unaware of (or indifferent to) the mayhem he's presumably caused. With Aragonés writing and drawing, Mark Evanier co-scripting, colors by Tom Luth, and lettering by Stan Sakai, "The Scepter of King Cetro Part I of Three" promises the kind of sharp comedic storytelling this all-star creative team consistently delivers.
