Issue #72 of Sergio Aragonés' Groo the Wanderer arrives in December 1990 with a wonderfully chaotic cover — a wild-eyed shaman dominates the foreground, arms raised as he conjures a swirling storm of fantastical creatures: dragons, skulls, tentacled horrors, and ghostly apparitions erupting all around him. In the background, a bemused Groo and his faithful dog Rufferto look on, seemingly unsure whether to be impressed or alarmed. Sergio Aragonés both pencils and inks the cover, and the result is a densely packed, gloriously detailed scene that perfectly captures the manic humor and adventure of this long-running Epic Comics gem.
