“The Lawbreakers' League”

In "The Lawbreakers' League," a 1945 Sensation Comics standout, the lives of a struggling radio writer, Julius Hack, and two escaped convicts collide near the home of young Tommy Rogers. When Julius scribbles a desperate plea for help in the dust on a door, Tommy dons his costume and rallies the Blue Boys to take down the intruders. The story, illustrated with crisp energy by Frank Harry, captures a moment of quiet heroism that sparks a new radio series idea—“Little Boy Blue and the Blue Boys”—as told in a tale grounded in small-town tension and unexpected courage. The cover by Harry Peter perfectly frames the moment’s tension with a dramatic, shadowed composition.
